Unintentional irony of the week

From USA TODAY:

“I just hate being pigeonholed as a hate monger or bigot,” says Robert Hoehn, who contributed $25,000 to the campaign for Prop 8, which amended California’s Constitution to exclude same-sex marriage.

Can ya give us an etymology on “homophobia”? Does it mean fear of men or fear of the same? It can’t mean fear of homos because that word is NAUGHTY and VERBOTEN in Newspeak (or Novparl, as I translate it to French).

novparl, try a dictionary:

Main Entry: hom-
Variant(s): or homo-
Function: combining form
1 : one and the same : similar : alike
2 : derived from the same species
3 : homosexual

We’re not talking medical terminology here, OK?

Sarah – thanks for your reply. If you ever see this – so hemophobia means

1) fear of the same
2) fear of being derived from the same species
3) fear of a “homo”. But you mustn’t use that word! Naughty girl!

Which is it? All 3?
